Calamine lotion

I've been getting good results with using it on plaque psoriasis which has been on my left arm for about 5 years now. A few weeks ago I had a huge breakout. Nothing was working (excema creams, natural remedies etc.) so I thought I'd try Calamine lotion. It relieved the itching straight away and the rash is now practically non-existent except with a small patch on my elbow. Has anyone else had relief with it and it is safe to use long term?
