Fingernail disorder

I have a fingernail that has a blood and nerve supply within the nail on the outer edge, from base to tip. It bleeds when I clip the nail. It is getting wider and now encompasses about 1/5 of the nail. It reminds me of a dogs nail with the quick that will bleed if clipped too short. Any ideas??? This nail has always been somewhat misshapen and larger than the corresponding nail on my left hand. The blood supply has developed over time. My daughter's nail is similar, somewhat flattened on one side but with no blood supply (yet!)
