| Odd illness?
I have been sick for 3 years this January and so far I am lost. I've seen just aout every specialty and received various forms of treatment yet I've gotten no where. Things I know: 1) It's genetic (my mother has suffered from the same illness for years now, 2) it causes acidosis (loss of bicarbonate through the urine) 3) my co2 levels and chloride levels and potassium levels are affected.
My symptoms are bad breath and odd taste in my mouth, headaches, feel tired and sick all over, throat pain and a rash on my cheeks. I urinate alot my serum osmolality was high showing that I had many particles in my blood stream. My potassium is low, my bicarbonate levels are drastically low, chloride is high.
My kidney function is fine (creatinine and BUN). My Nephrologist is treating me for Renal Tubular acidosis with bicarbonate (650mgs every 4 hours but my symptoms haven't improved at all) I have been taking it for 3 weeks now.
