| retching in the early mornings
I have had this problem for about 1 year now. It comes and goes as it pleases. I have not discovered a definite pattern. My throat feels extremely 'inflamed' and I then dry retch. Nothing comes out at all. It only occurs in the early mornings as soon as I get up. Looking down, bending with my head forwards etc. triggers it off. I am 50 years old and my throat has been inspected by my GP. He has not picked up any inflammation or redness etc.
Another trigger is when I brush my teeth. I cannot brush for too long as I'm already gagging as soon as the toothbrush hits my mouth. It's so bad that I feel that my head is going to burst. I never touch the vomiting reflex at all which is why I'm so curious as to what is going on.
I don't believe that it can be an ear infection as it only occurs in the mornings. The rest of the day I'm fine.
