| Re: Wegener's Disease (WG) and Imuran pills
I take Imuran, been on it for over 1 1/2 years. My doctor said its okay for me to have a little bit of alcohol for special occasions.
Imuran is an immunsuppressant.
It is mostly used to prevent rejection in persons that have had an organ transplant.
I take it because I had a double lung transplant. Imuran suppress my immune system to help keep my immunity lowered so that I don't reject my new lungs.
Imuran is also used for other health disorders as well. Its used for inflammation, swelling, pain, immune supression, auto-immune disorders.
Imuran is used for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis for pain and swelling.
Imuran may/can lower the number or red blood cells in your bone marrow.
You should have asked your doctor or nurse or pharmacy where your picked up your prescription at before taking it. I would advise you to call your doctor's office and ask them if it is okay if you drink alcohol while on this medicine. You can also do a search of the drug's name, and you will get a lot of information about it.
Hope that helps.
