Have anyone found a name for, or a treatment for this socially debilitating disorder? I have had it for years now. I have talked to my doctors with an copy of an article by another sufferer who concluded it must be fungal infection in the sinuses; something I tend to agree with because it smells like it.
I even had my deviated septum repaired two years ago. A PA. (physician assistant) tried to treat me with antibiotic once, for a week; I still have it. People close to me and on my job, including my patients have physically backed off from me when I start to talk to them. Others have suggested that I take a bath ( I do twice a day) before coming to work. If I did not have to work for a living, I would isolate myself. I am very close to brewing an anti-fungal sinus rinse as a last result. I would do anything- not dangerous.
If I were you I would see an ENT, Ears-throat and nose specialist, I bet they can help you, You should not have to go threw this, something is really wrong. Have you ever had your adniods ot tounsils removed??
Thanks for you response. No I have never had either of my tonsils removed. If any of my doctors suggest it I would. They don't seem to think it is a big deal-frustrating!
when I had my septum repaired, I specifically told the ENT this was my mean reason for the surgery. I even suggested hat he sent a tissue sample to a pathologist-he knew better. I am hoping to find a support group now.

It sounds like you have totally given up on finding a solution, I would go to a new doctor, and take it from there. Start fresh, there has to be an answer to your problem, it's not fair to you and I truly believe someone can help you.
after sinus surgery, you can have a condition called "ozena" which is an atrophic sinusitis which can result in a bad smell both for the person, but also may result in really bad breath and foul smelling discharge--do you have discharge from the nose? Fungal sinusitis is a possibility, but usually with that you have nasal obstruction....i.e. difficulty breathing through the nose necessitating mouth-breathing. It's a possibility--perhaps you should be seen by an ENT doc. Does your family doc not want to send you to an ENT doc?
My grandfather had something quite similar and it turned out to be a polyp in his sinuses. It really began with his nose running constantly. Then one day, the polyp grew out of his nose quite quickly and he had no doubt then! I agree with the others in that you should go to and Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. If you have been going to one with no luck, find another. They are not all wonderful so it might be a good idea to ask others whom they might have used or do a bit of research online in your area. Good luck to you. As for the others, just tell them you are working on it and are aware of the problem. I'm sure they smell like roses themselves, NOT! Some people are very inconsiderate, but do check into this further for your own health.
