| | blood blisters in throat
Hi, been reading posts about this nasty disorder. I have this, it started when i was 28yrs old (i am now 48). It has happened many times since then and i find anything i am eating if i dont chew carefully can cause it, so far pastys, burgers chips, salad and even a soft bread roll have been just some of the offenders so far. I saw an ENT specialist a few years back about something not connected and i mentioned it to him, he was very good and explained he had heard of it before and that it was called angina dolerosa haemorragia. Angina after the pain it causes, dolerosa because it makes you feel so wretched (from a latin word) and haemorragia because it makes you bleed. A very apt name i think. I did it again last night on a mac donalds burger. You feel it catch your throat and just know what coming. It swells up till it makes you gag then you retch and retch till you burst it, then you are left with a very sore throat and unable to eat or even talk without pain. I usually live on scrambled eggs, soup, ready brek etc soft stuff for anything up to a week until it has healed. It is very frightening when it happens, i still panic even though i know it cannot kill me. It happens most when i am stressed i suppose because your throat is more constricted then. The only thing you can do is chew everything to a pulp before swallowing and pray it doesnt happen. To all of you who have this you are not alone and it is a real condition.
