Humming without trying - Rare Disorders Message Board

Ever so often, I hum without even trying. It's a short sound, but I find this bizarre.

I do this too sometimes, but only when I am especially embarrassed, excited, amused, etc.

There are some anti-anxiety medications that will cause this as well, which was the case with my father. They had to change some of his medication. His was a constant thing though, so I don't think this is what you're talking about.

Thanks for replying. No, I am not on any anxiety medication. I do this short little hum sound when I am just sitting quietly in a chair or laying down trying to go to sleep.

Maybe a mild form of Tourette syndrome?

I have found this happening to me on certain occasion. always when I am about to dose off to sleep. I think to myself where the h** did that come from. It is nice to know that I am not the only one this happens to.
