Treatments for Raynaud's?

Hi everybody! I'm really glad everyone is so welcoming here. I'm a
grandmother suffering from Raynaud's disease. My symptoms have
worsened as I have aged. I often have attacks that can last hours. In
the wintertime, sometimes it's every day. I don't make very much
money, and I am not old enough to get medicare. I have tried every
homeopathic cure, and nothing has helped. I am afraid I may need an
amputation in the future if something doesn't change. I have read a
few articles about using generic Viagra to treat Raynaud's symptoms,
and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. My
primary care doctor is hesitant to prescribe it, as it's an off-label
use of the drug, but I am desperate! If anyone has experience with
this treatment, please reply or message me with any side effects you
experienced, and of course whether it worked! Thank you so much for
any help, this is a difficult thing to live with, and I feel better
knowing I'm not the only one.

Re: Treatments for Raynaud's?

Welcome PearlBeth! I have Raynaud's too, and do all the usual things to try to prevent it. I am on a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine) for mine and it works very well. It is also used for high BP, but opens up the arteries in the fingers and toes. As long as you don't have low BP, you might want to try it instead, as it is MUCH cheaper than Viagra and has been used a long time. It is Rx so you would need to discuss with your Dr. He may be more comfortable prescribing that for you, and it should help. Good luck and I hope others post on what they have found that works for their Raynaud's.

Smile Re: Treatments for Raynaud's?

Ladybud, This message I am sending out to you as I read through some of your beginning posts about your wrinkled fingers! I also have been experiencing this about 3 years! No redness or discolorations just the wrinkles! Goes away once in a while through the day and early before I get out of bed all is fine (in other words not there when I awake in the mornings)! In reading through some of your posts I assume you were finally diagnosed with Raynauds! I have had dr. just look at me puzzled when I show them! mostly it just looks and feels weird no pain or discolored look! When doing further research last night I came upon possible causes , Diabetes , Thyroid disorder ,Lymphedema, Parasympathetic nerve disfunction, vitamin D and B12 deficencies, or connective tissue disorders! Most of those sound scarey! I think i am suspecting mine other than Raynauds as no color change but how did you finally get yours diagnosed? I have had some blood work done nothing alarming has come from that but I have suffered with stomach problems H-pylori ,gastritis ,colitis,polyps..that is the next direction they are sending me in a gastrointestinal Dr... However I just do not get the connection between my stomach and what appears to be a blood flow problem. Since you suffered from stomach problems as well from what i remember in your posts! How did they make that connection? Thanks for any info you may have!
