Unhappy Raynaulds caused by emotional stress

I am new here and in hope of some advice as I am new to raynaulds and feel very worrid by it.Going back at the start of this year we had a lot of sadness in our family and my emotional stress was so high, also at this time it was winter and my feet were in very narrow boots which is when I noticed 2 toes on each foot at the tips had became purple looking I assumed I had squashed them at first and then began to notice how they my feet were always getting so so cold to the point that one day they were like ice and would not warm up,since then I have on and off moments where feet stay freezing for so long and start to tingle and get numb and the tips of the 2 toes on each foot go on and off purple still, its been months ive tried creams for frost bite, chillblains and they did not help, doctors says its typical raynaulds caused by all the emotional stress and says I should quit smoking too as it helps. As I type now my feet are freezing ive ordered plug in a foot warmer in hope it helps anyone have any good advice for this,in the summer my feet were the opposite when it was very hold my toes would be very red and boiling but soon as its even a little chilly they are freezing. Thanks all for reading.

Re: Raynaulds caused by emotional stress

Reynaulds is a vascular condition. Most everyone I have ever heard of, their skin turns white. I have an autoimmune disease, and Reynaulds..as soon as the temperature changes, my toes and areas on the bottom of my feet turn white as well. It hurts like crazy and no amount of warming them up helps...in the summer, I do not experience this. Wearing wool socks, seems to help, because the cold can trigger it, but it is not stress related.

Be careful. Creams and ointments can actually cause more damage if the nerves in your feet are already damaged. Keep them warm and dry and talk to a good podiatrist. There are tests to determine if this is Reynaulds or not.

Re: Raynaulds caused by emotional stress

I am not saying that stress wont excaberate Reynaulds...it can and probably will, but it is not the cause of it. The cause is vascular. The effects can be worsened due to stress. Get in to see a doctor asap- they will be better able to assist you ; but I will tell you that Reynaulds is painful and cannot be 'treated" as in cured...you just learn how to live with it!

Smile Re: Raynaulds caused by emotional stress

I know it really is quite painful my toes will be so cold at times they hurt or tingle or go numb,i have seen 3 doctors now who all confirmed raynauds and advised me to stop smoking and recommend exercise and yoga for calming.I currently am wearing thermal socks but they do not seem to do much am going to order some sheepskin boots and slippers and woollen socks to see if this helps its very annoying having this but I guess it could be a lot worse and your right I think as time goes on you learn to control it and live with it.Always seems to help if I'm up and about cleaning or taking my mind off it its worse when I sit down and focus on it as they feel so cold.Thankyou for your advice hopefully it will settle as my stress and worrying settles, fingers crossed.
