ear numbness, diminished hearing, raynauds - Raynaud's Syndrome Message Board

hi,

i am undx'd but doc is 95% sure its MS. all mri's and LP were negative. been dx'd with fibro, raynauds, IC, etc etc. have numbness, tingling, vibrating, buzzing, zapping, stinging, stabbing pain throughout, blurry vision that comes and goes, vertigo that comes and goes. electric shocks sometimes from inside of elbow to the wrist, periods of "sore skin" that feels like "road rash" or "rug burns" on different areas of my body (wrists, above knees, under arms, thighs) when there is no visible rash or scrape and even the muscle over that sore area will hurt to touch.

my raynaud's affects my hands and feet and appears to be worsening, but i'm wondering if it's some how connected to the possibility of the MS dx. my hands/feet will be painfully cold and white/purple and then at certain times of the day they will swell slightly and get very hot and red, tingle and feel numb. sometimes only 1 or 2 fingers will be that way and the others will be cold.

well, yesterday, i noticed that all of a sudden the hearing in my left hear became muffled as if i had cotton in it and hearing was diminished, but i noticed a tingling in it and began to feel that area and it was hot. looked in the mirror and it was red. placed my finger in my ear and noticed it was numb. after a few hours it subsided and my hearing was normal again. i frequently have buzzing, popping, and high frequency sounds in it and have vertigo. but this was just weird. was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

could the numbness have affected the hearing? is this MS related? was by far the strangest thing yet. thanks for listening and sorry so long.

Hi Michelle

Sounds like you've got your hands full and have been Through the wringer. As far as your hearing goes that was the first Neuro symptom that happened to me 10 yrs ago. I was just dx'd this February. I had a terrible migraine and ringing in my left ear, I took some medication for it and tried to take a nap, woke up with no hearing at all in that ear and it has yet to come back. I also had the trigeminal numbness in that side of my face. No one has been able to figure out exactly what happened, the closest they could come was a micro neural stroke of some type, nothing was ever found. My Neuro now is thinking that there was a definite connection to my now diagnosed MS and the hearing loss. I don't know if this helps or not but the similarities appear to be there. From what I'm learning MS can show up in so many different ways its next to impossible to rule in or rule out any of the wierd symptoms that we come down with to MS. It is needless to say very frustrating.

at least i'm not alone with this symptom. it was pretty weird to say the least. i too suffer migraines at times - i'm not on any meds for it. it usually starts with muscle tightness on the left side of the back of my neck up over top of head to left side of my nose including my eye sometimes with nausea and sometimes not. i will use an ice pack on my neck and pop 2 extra strength excedrin and my Flexeril then lie down for a bit. usually i'm better by the next morning - but sure messes up my day.

just noticed you are from Chesapeake VA - me too!!!!!
