Hands up

I guess I have raynaud's syndrome.
My hands are often cold and they get red if I have them down.
In order to get rid of the redness, I put my my hands up and the blood flows down. It is a temporary solution.

Does anyone else do that?

Re: Hands up

I have exactly what you describe. Raynaud's or not? Anyone know?

Re: Hands up

Raynaud's is a vasospastic disorder that causes certain areas of your body, like fingers, toes and ears, to feel cool in response to cold or stress. Smaller arteries that supply blood to your skin in these areas narrow, limiting circulation. Usually the affected area will turn white, then blue then red and throb or tingle as circulation is restored before normal colour returns. Not everyone experiences all three colour changes. It is more common in women and in colder climates. Most people have Primary Raynaud's and it generally is more of a nuisance than anything else. Your Dr can make an evaluation to determine if you have Raynaud's or something that mimics it such as overuse injuries or carpal tunnel syndrome, among others. I hope this helps answer your questions.

Re: Hands up

Thanks for the reply.

In my case, it doesn't turn white. It goes red and then blue. It doesn't hurt. It doesn't throb. I just have to put my hands up.

What is weird is that I had this when I was 10. I also got out of breath climbing stairs. I was an active kid and wasn't fat. It lasted about 2 years and then symptoms disappeared for 25 years. Now that I have tachycardia or something, they have returned.
I haven't been diagnosed yet for my tach, but I think I have Inappropriate sinus tachycardia.

Re: Hands up

If it's worrisome, see your Dr. There might be nothing wrong at all, but it never hurts to check, or talk to your Dr at your next visit. Good luck and best wishes!

Re: Hands up

I have the problem where my hands sometimes get too hot and then get painful so I lift them up but then my circulation in my arm goes and my neither goes white or purple and painful and numb....do you have any other symptoms? E.g. colour changes? Some people don't have severe colour changes but I can't have a hair bobble wrapped around my fingers without them going purple. Some people also have pain with their raynauds, but then again some people have just the attacks... unfortunately not all of these symptoms are easily treated, I suffer from a lot of symptoms and I can't treat the majority (there are 20 to 30- I made a list for the Dr). All the best!

I just have color change. I don't have any pain symptoms.
It goes red and sometimes when there is more blood accumulated, it looks blue.
