Advice or Suggestions

Had back surgery that was botched!! They were trying to get me out of hospital asap. I was in more pain after the surgery then prior. After putting up a fight they sent me for an x-ray and CT scan imagine that one of the six screws inserted into my spine for a fusion was not only CROOKED they actually cracked the bone what she left three phone fragments laying on my nerves as well as the crooked screw pressing against another nerve. The initial surgery was on Wednesday and after doing the scans and x-rays they had me in for emergency surgery on Sunday to remove the crooked screw that was pressing on a nerve and find and retrieve the three bone fragments since then my back feels much better but my one leg from the knee down is severely damage luckily that week after the surgery I was diagnosed with this disease and it's been a living hell. I just receive the first of two possibly three sympathetic nerve injections which seem to have worked well for approximately 48 hours but I asked her that my life has turned upside down constant pain in lower leg from the knee down and the foot seems to be the worst. Any help or suggestions? Do you think this is a malpractice case? Please help any ideas for pain relief at a minimum is greatly appreciated.

It's good that they caught your rsd so early .. from what I hear that means you have a real shot at not looking at suffering for the rest of your life .. I will pray for you .. don't give up .. you have it better than most of us .. so sorry that you have now become a member of the rsd club .. kathie

Re: Advice or Suggestions

Having diagnosis of RSD/CRPS you need to be seeing a pain management team/specialist as well as auto-immune/neuro specialist, please seek legal advise on your surgery. You are your own best advocate. Educate yourself and learn everything you can. So very sorry this happened to you ....no one wants to have to be in the club. I use bio-freeze and or my prescribed lidocaine ointment both are gels (warmed up) they great for me until meds kick in. Epsom and eucalyptus hot water soaks and periodic resting. Wishing you gentle days and low pain levels ~

Re: Advice or Suggestions

Hi, yes, they've put you through the 'ringer', so sorry.
I read up on some cases, in an RSD book and that's what I learned..
then I found a statement while online searching--"with us, sometimes less is more" I mean it said sometimes the more you do it gets worse.
My injury & suffering is now in Stage 4, each stage seems to be one year.
I learned to make notes & dates & easy to remember code names for each new
non-normal symptom; (then have a doctor say if it is from medicine & the like,
or not). Secondly, since humans are habit people, Accept the RSD 'things',
like natural, (because when I panic during Flares, it is harder to cope with them,
& I almost stroked out and died several times).
OK, we have the pains--then the 'other' stuff--& the bad flares: I have to
"Break it down" to cope with my stuff. Pain--your pain management Dr. gives the medicines for yes? (you can have several types for--i can't live without
the patch calles Butrans); For Flares- take a stronger dose and do anything else to get through, like tub bath, or pan of warm water put Magnesium salts in, & cold things on, Astringent spray, walk it out, shake your leg, oh
Muscle relaxer med. reduces a little pain. So this is the way of it, please let me know how you're getting along soon. Yahweh is Love in Total RSD.

About lawsuit: how can you manage that while you feel so bad? Calling to check with them is ok but I signed up with some firms before I asked enough questions-they didn't care about me at all, also it costed me money due to their arrogance. Now I'm coping & recuperating.
