Sorry to hear your appointment didn't go as well as you had hoped. Did you like your pain doctor though?
I don't think it's necessarly a bad idea to have another block. Some doctors simply don't hit the right spots so maybe this guy will have better luck. Were your first blocks done under fluroscopy? WIll this block be done under it? I think this is a good idea because it really ensures the medication is going into the correct spot.
I think when people switch doctors they are hesitant to do a bunch of med changes, especially with narcotics. I spent several months in pain management with a daily pain level of 8-9 without being offered anything stronger than Neurontin. My doctor tried medication from several different drug classes before he even considered short-acting narcotics. Another reason he may have not given you anything for the pain today is he doesn't want anything to influence your perception of pain relief you may get from the block. I'm sure your doctor will come up with a med plan depending on what your results are with this block. LIke I said in a previous post, patience is the key! Try not to get discouraged!
