burning eyes , RSD ?

Hello , this is my first post . got rsd after broken foot more than one year ago Burning pain at the site of the injury aggravated a short time after any activity . Walking standing a lot when driving . Wierd how the vibration from the car affects my pain level Even delayed pain after sex First pleasure then pain definately messes with my head . I know others suffer even more than I but some syptoms of spreading are getting me down to a level where I am losing the battle at least today . Some occasional burning under my finger nails and occasional numbness in my hands . I understand these are all common symtoms that others out there have but I am now having major symtoms with my eyes that are getting worse to the point of intolerable I am not sure if this is rsd so if anyone else out there has this or can direct to a place where it may be written about I would appreciate . I am having blurry vision but the worst is a burnining in my eyes that feels like shampoo got in there . Chronic and intolerable . thought it was a simple infection from the pool or some other source but after two months of treatment with every kind of any kind of drops , steroid etc . I am scared it is a symtom of RSD I know my post is long . Thank you for taking your time If you can , PLEASE HELP Robert

Hi Rands, burning eyes?! Wow, bless your heart! That must be so awful for you. My eyes don't burn, but I just wanted to reach out to you and say hang in there. Poor thing, goodness sakes I feel terrible for you. Hope you are feeling better tonight. Karen

Re: burning eyes , RSD ?

Kellyevans40 had some issues with her eyes that were RSD related. Look up some of her posts. I'm not sure what they called the issue she had, but I know it had to be treated pretty quickly and it was painful for her.

Re: burning eyes , RSD ?

Hi Robert,
The only thing i could think of when i read your topic, poor Robert. I kind of recognize the burning eyes. I have burning eyes a lot, but not every day. Every once in while they get red, teary and very painful. But i have no idea of this is a symptom of the RSD.

Lea

Thank you for your reply Unfortunately my eyes burn intensely every day and I am completely overwhelmed and frighted . A high dose of opiate medication tends to quiute it for awhile . The intensity of the burning does come in waves but I really do need help

Re: burning eyes , RSD ?

I was told mh burning eyes was from sensitivity and dryness as a side affect of meds. A fellow rsd sister is going through the same thing. Any new news?

Hi sorry to hear about your symptoms . My eyes still bother me all the time but the intensity has lessened to a stinging If you do not mind me asking what medicines is your Doctor attributing to your dry eye symptoms ? This could be a big factor with me but hard to figure out because I hd been tolorating all the meds I was taking for a few months before eye symptons occured Thank you for your reply and best of luck with your eyes Regards Robert

Re: burning eyes , RSD ?

I have CRPS, but I had eye problems beforehand. I went to a great opthamology practice, which did things like measure how much tear production my eyes were making and look at the eye surface under the upper lids. I did not have dry eyes, but I did have a condition called superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis. It can be caused by contact lenses or it can appear on its own. No contact lenses, here... It caused burning, itching, and blurry vision from goo on the eyelid surface.

I was using a medication for dry eyes, but the preservatives in that medication and the lubricating drops were causing a toxicity to build up in my eyes. I switched to preservative-free single use drops, my eyes improved somewhat, and my eye issues took a backseat to everything else. I would definitely recommend a opthamological workup and a thyroid test, as Graves disease can cause these symptoms. Any of these issues could be CRPS-related, or maybe not.

Be careful of excessive eyedrop use! If you are using them like I was: every hour or more, for many months, you might try switching to the single use drops to avoid the preservative toxicity.
