Hey Stickgirl

hi...this is timmy..thankyou and all of you for answering my question on meds for the electric jolt pain. i will talk to doc about this when i see him in a couple weeks..my question to you is that you said that vicodin is hard on the liver.. i have been very careful about taking the addicting drugs and only take them when only absolutely necessary.. but of course who knows why i find my self taking vicodin more for pain...i have ultram but dont take that very much..my question is does ultram harm the liver like you said vicodin does? thankyou timmy**

Re: Hey Stickgirl

Hi Timmy, I am not sure if ultram is hard on anything. I tried it a few times, it did not help my pain at all so I never took it again. Now there is lortab and norco, both are vicaden just less acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is hard on your liver. Ask your Dr for Norco, it has the least amount of it, there also smaller pills. I was taking approx 12 a day, after taking them for so long 1 wouldn't help so I needed 2 at a time and every 4 hrs. I was taking norco 10 mg, and when my pain management dr found out he went thru the roof. Said it was a wonder my liver did not give out on me. He put me on oxycontin, and now I only take 3-4 norco a day.

Do you see a pain management doc? If so, call him/her and have a chat. Discuss other options. Ask your pharmacist for those pamplets on each medicine. Take those with you, and disciss your options. Let him/her know the pain your in and that you are worried about long term use and how it will affect other organs.

Hope this has helped you, if not please feel free to ask me or others whatever you need.

((((Hugs))))

Dream-head

Lynn
