Pam, I found a couple of people on the net who reported similar reactions to Nuerontin.

Interesting, nuerontin is often prescribed in order to treat ringing in the ears...

How Neurontin works is not known.

For what its worth, this is a drug that my doctor suggested. I declined.

Of course, we all know that I decline everything.

Sam.

Re: Buzzing ear

I've had RSD for almost 4yrs now. I didn't realize that it could cause that irritating ringing in the ears. When first dx'd with RSD I was put on neurontin (3200mgs a day) but never experienced the ringing. When I started seeing my Pain Dr he took me off of neurontin and put me on Mexitil, which I've been taking for about 3yrs. Mexitil is usually used for heart arythmias but as it works on nerve impulses they have found it is also good for RSD. The ear thing has just started within the last year or so, so I don't think it's related to the meds. - Shelley

Re: Buzzing ear

Hello,

I have buzzing in my ears also. I didnt correlate the buzzing to Neurotin but it would make sense.

You are right its like little bees just milling around.

It isnt always as loud as it is right now but it never really goes away either.

Hope it decrease for you.

Hopes and prayers

Brighteyes

Re: Buzzing ear

Hi Pam,
I have the ringing 'buzzing', too. I asked my pain doc if it was the neurontin - he said he didn't think so. I think it could be the hydrodcodone also.
Wish it wasn't there but I'll take it over the pain.
Are you having any more blocks? I had #8 yesterday & it didn't seem to do anything. I'm disappointed cause the other 7 helped. Maybe I plateaued.
Linda
