Hello Pretty Lady, I live in Victoria, BC and you are right there are few doctors in this province that know about RSD. Even the Pain Management types are sketchy at best. However, the Pain Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital quoted in the above message is experienced with RSD and Dr. Vincent, although not an RSD specialist is very well respected and was the doctor who gave the definitive diagnosis of my CRPS and then went to his friends, the specialists in the USA to find out the latest drugs to put me on. I was in a car accident and because the case was still open St. Paul's would not take me as a patient - they have ongoing problems trusting ICBC (wonder why) and will only take you as a patient after you have settled. So now that I have settled I am on their waiting list. Probably a year from now I will get in. Vincent's wait list is almost that long too but if you phone and cry a little he just might see you and get you onto a drug program but he will not do blocks and because he runs his own pain clinic dealing mostly with backs, he does not have hospital privileges. Dr. Davis in Victoria is a doctor that will do blocks but the one he did on me did not work and in fact paralyzed my hip flexors and he would not do another one. Don't know what caused that but he called me personally six or seven time to make sure I got my movement back. Scared him worse than me. I am hoping St. Paul's will do a couple more and also do a further check on the drug situation and if there are better ones out there to control my flareups. I don't know anything about your problems, or where you live, but mine is mainly in the knee, spread twice and scared the living ??? out of me, but I have found that if I do acquatherapy three times a week for an hour or more in deep water with a flotation belt on and stretch a lot after and take the prescribed drugs I keep my pain down to 10 - 30% of what it was at the worst. If I do not go to the pool, it jumps to 7. Once in a while it jumps for no reason at all. I am not sure we can share email addresses but if we can, we should as knowing someone in the same area who has RSD might mean we could help each other.
