Moving with RSD

It is always an interesting journey while having and dealing with RSD. With long consideration, discussions and a major decision on my part I have decided to move out of state. Thus being said it brings a whole lot of other questions to ponder. I am still on WC, but can see that I will have to settle eventually. My WC is not what I am writing about tonite, it is the fact of moving to another state. Who has made such a move and what did you have to do to find another dr to write your prescriptions? Can you tell some of the details of making the "medical" switch? Realizing that this is a personal and yet very personal experience it varies from each individual. I am considering up North and wonder do I have to seek another Neuro dr or a PM dr? Would I have to get a primary dr to do everything? I just don't know because I have not done this before and it is all new to me.

WC is still a big issue with me and I am working on that one. I go to my Neuro dr on Monday, but he hasn't been to happy with me or my case worker. he keeps on trying to dismiss me from the practice to someone else, like long term care drs. The only thing is that with my job there is no such thing. They start trying to fire you when it reaches this point. So if anyone can be of assistance and I know you will , I really appreciate it. So I will wait patiently for your responses. Ben

Re: Moving with RSD

Are you talking about moving after you settle with WC? Because even if you are "fired", they are still responsible for you. We have just gotten a letter that we have to see one of their panel doctors instead of the doctor of our choice, so they might give you a list of doctors to choose from wherever you go. (By the way, we are planning to fight it, especially since we think Cal is not permanent and stationary any more because the RSD is spreading to his knee and hip.)
We are working on moving eventually (but not out of state). We figure, at the rate we are going, it will take a couple of years to sort and pack! The plan was still to come back once a month to see the same doctor.
Good luck,
Sunny

Re: Moving with RSD

I don't have any WC issues to deal with, but since my Dh is active Army, we move frequently. As a matter of fact our next more is this October. I've already started with my docotrs having them write a letter to whomever Iw ill be seeing next. In it will expalin what is going on, what meds and why I am taking them, what meds I have tried that failed, and the course of treatment the should be followed. Also how they can reach them if need be. I can't think of much else besided this and my records. So we'll see how it works out. Sorry I can't be of more help to you.

Re: Moving with RSD

ben, my friend moved while on wc. they gave her a hard time at first. she came back to her old state for her doc apts and they would not pay for pt but that in connecticut. (she moved to florida). personally, i am on wc and i don't think they have any choice but to approve you a new doc and pm doc. if you have a lawyer, i would discuss this with him. also, in connecticut, there is no fault termination so my job fired me after i was gone a full year. good thing because they closed the plant 2 years later and i would of lost my job anyway. at least i'm still getting wc pay and all doc and meds paid for...lol. anyway, i am going to settle asap (may of 07) and we are moving to upstate new your by montreal. if you know where you are moving to, i would try and get a phone book or something like that and start looking for docs and get the process rolling with the new doc and wc for approval. good luck ben, hope this was some help, patti

Re: Moving with RSD

Yep never a dull moment here in RSD land that's for sure huh Ben? It's so weird you would do this post now, my partner Kellie and I went and spoke to my lawyer yesterday about a few things and our move back East to New Jersey in Dec 07 was "number one main topic" bascially my lawyer did tell us to talk to her at our six month mark of our move and we'll know where we stay at the case at that point..

Anyways Ben Kellie's and my biggest worry has been my medical and what to do. Weather I do a cash settlement or do medical for life..either way there are sooo many pros and cons to them both to think about and something you just don't jump into..When Kellie and I first choosed my RSD Lawyer 3 yrs ago it was only because my doctor dx my RSD and came to the point in my medical where he couldn't treat me anymore and as like you Ben I couldn't run the risk of WC closing my case behind my back! And this has never been about money and still isn't..but I'll tell you one thing Ben Kellie and I are mad like hell at WC for prolonging my treatments and causing my condition to worsten over the yrs so that will be a factor in our final decion in the end of our choices on what we'll decide to do..

I was very lucky Ben I never to had a WC case nurse with me going to my appts. but from what I had heard out here in California if you did have a nurse with you at the end of your case they could boot you out of the drs office and close your case on you just like that!! Now if it's true or not I don't know! So watch your Back Ben at all times Ben..they act all nice and try to be your friend but they are only out to get you!!

Kellie is really good at this stuff so I'm gonna try and get her to do a post on this she's able to relay this so much better than I can, but in the meantime Ben if you don't have a lawyer you really should get one and make should they know what RSD is..hang in there we'll get some answers for you and maybe for us too lol..

when are you planning are moving?? Everythings gonna be alright
eunie
