Lightbulb Info about different brands of stimulator

I told everyone interested in info. re: scs that I would try and find out info about the three different types. The types are Medtronics, Advanced Bionics, and ANS. My PM doc. who was a Director and Co-director of two renouned hospitals and the founder of a Spinal Insitute. I am just trying to show you all that he has been around and has plenty of experience. These hospitals are all located in Boston, Mass. We posed the question to him if one stimulator was better than another and he said absolutly not. He has used them all and because of politics and the money aspect he rotated using them and even told the companies he was doing this. I feel very confident now about having a Medtronic and for all whom are scared going in for the Medtronic he said they have been around the longest and the new ones are not any better. The battery is smaller in the others but as far as good and bad results (problems with leads, or any other issues) that they are all the same. Reading SoCal's e-mails I was starting to think that I had been screwed and they had given me one that they had a vested interest in but that was not true. I even considered switching the old one out but I cannot because Medtronics is the best for the arms. When I spoke with Medtronics about going with another company because of the bigger paddles needed- Medtronics has them as well. So I think we can all put our mind at ease about one being better and us getting the raw deal.
Shawley- I believe you are getting one in on June 18th rest your head and not to worry you are getting one of the three best stims out there...
Also when my husband researched them they were all the same and none claimed to be better or worse. My mind is at ease and I hope everyone elses's is as well. If anyone finds info. to the contrary please post...
I am getting my trial this Friday now because there was a miscommunication between the front desk, medtronics, and the pm doc, but what can you do. At least I get to go to my daughter's last day of pre-school to see her get her gold medal for reading- see, things happen for a reason...good luck to all...Nikki

Re: Info about different brands of stimulator

Jax,
Hi, that is great that you are at ease with having the scs impalnt, that makes a world of difference. I agree with you that they all pretty much are the same. Anything can happen at any time no matter what brand you have.

I wish you the best on friday and I hope everything turns out good for you and you have a quick recovery.

Take care
Cattys

Re: Info about different brands of stimulator

Cattys,
Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot. Yes I am excited and since it is the 2nd I am not as scared as I was with the 1st. Also I heard the lower back one is easier all around as far as pain and recovery, so I made it through the neck one and I would pretty much do anything to get back on my feet...thanks cattys
