Kinda of embarrassing

I am so embarrassed to ask this question. I have been so upset all day long and I don't know if anyone can help me on here with this but I need to ask. This morning I woke up and Realized I had a bowl movement in the bed. I didn't even know I had to go potty and didn't feel it come out, my honey was amazing just got up and changed the sheets help me wash up then went back to sleep for work. I figured well maybe I just was sleeping so hard. Then I realized my butt, and legs are numb. It happened 3 more times this afternoon. Could this be the RSD moving it's way up my body. I have so much numbness and pain in my lower body right now.. I'm 27 years old this isn't fair .. Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulder.

Re: Kinda of embarrassing

what i am wondering right now is do you have ANY actual spinal issues that you are aware of? i have had this, along with bladder control issues from my spinal cord injury, not my RSD. the thing is what you mentioned about that 'numbness"? that would indicate some possible involvement of actual spinal in some way. just where IS your RSD and how did it get triggered? was there any spinal involvement? if you have not ever had or recently had any MRIs done on your spine, i REALLY do think at least your lumbar(the best would be from top to bottom since any involvement along that spinal, depending upon what and where it is could be involved and cause this)MRIed as soon as possible REALLY should be done for you. i seriously would try to get in to see your doc today if possible. when it comes to certain spinal involvment, one of the more ominous signs just IS what exactly occured with your loss of bowel control hon. did you happen to notice any loss of bladder too or was it strictly bowel?

i am in no way trying to scare you or freak you out hon, but this just really does need evaluating sooner vs later right now. numbness like that, in most cases could only stem from spinal nerve involvment. i would just call your docs office and tell them what occured and you NEED to be seen. and to just get that MRI done. hopefully this is not some major issue, but it DOES need to be further evaluated and that spine looked at. i do wish you luck with this. but please see your doc as soon as possible. please let me know how you are doing. Marcia

Re: Kinda of embarrassing

I am glad you posted anyways. I feel empathy for your situation. I don't want to alarm you either, but have you been tested for MS? Numbness and loss of bowel can be from lesions in the central nervous system. Dr Schwartzman did a study last Spring that showed a higher incidence of RSD in people with MS! I am being investigated right now and think it is very likely I do. I haven't had the same thing happen, but a lot of other weird stuff!!!
Hang in there and I am glad u have a nice honey to help you with loving care.

Re: Kinda of embarrassing

PLEASE go to your doctor - if he can't see you today - than go to the ER - if you live in a small town and the hospital doesn't have MRI and CT equipment on site - than go to a larger hospital that does - this is very important and your health is worth the concern. Please don't be so embarrassed...this horrible condition has done things to all of us that we don't like to think about - but nature is nature and you have a wonderful husband who obviously loves and supports you. We are here for you too, in any way that we can be. Please let us know how you are doing and if there is anything that we can do to help. I'm sending lots of positive energy and thoughts of support your way. Lissa

Re: Kinda of embarrassing

Rianna,
I agree with all the others. Please get into a doctor ASAP. Something like that should be evaluated by a good doctor. Numbness isn't normal, but try not to freak out just because I said that. Our bodies can do really weird stuff.
My RSD consumed me for a long time, probably almost a full year. Seems I concentrated sooo much on it and it wasn't healthy for my psych at all. Thank goodness, I'm more calm now. Sometimes I do get scared to death of the future, but on the whole, I'm doing better. Got diagnosed in Oct of 07 so I'm pretty new but I'm doing better now that I'm not so focused on it. Taking Lyrica, Cymbalta and Trileptal.
Please post after you've gone to the doc, ok? Know that we are all hear for you and we all care about what happens to you.
Deb
