Hi texmexlex, I just did the trial period for the spinal cord stimulator,2 weeks ago, My insurance company just approved the permanent one this past wednesday. I also have RSD, dec 30 will be a year since I got it from foot surgery, I also did the nerve blocks, physical therapy, so many meds. The nerve blocks only lasted me 3 days each time. I am older 41 years old and also worry about the maintenance on this thing. But I think that no matter what, us RSDers have to maintain what ever options we choose, meds physical therapy so I guess either way I would be at the docs office, at least with the stimulator I will hopefully be able to come off some of my meds. You will do a trial period for the stimulator before they place the permenant one so you can decide if the relief you get from it is worth it for you or not. For me it is. good luck.
