Post Now I have the Diagnosis of RSD what doctor do I use?

hi, This is Teri from Rhode Island, I've had two Nerve blocks and the Anthestiologist(sp) said that it definately is RSD. My problem is I don't think I should just keep going to my Orthopedic Doctor, what kind of doctor should I go see now?

Thanks in advance,
Teri

I go to a pain clinic on a monthly basis. Mainly they monitor the drugs and give me my prescriptions now, but I had many nerve blocks and rhizotomy procedures at the clinic. They can be found within most hospitals but you want to make sure they treat RSD (some don't and some aren't very agressive--which I found to be very important). I go to New Engl Baptist pain clinic in Boston.

Hello,

I see a neurologist and a pain management doctor.
The neurologist manages my pain meds and my meds for the burning and my depression and the pain management doctor put in my nerve stimulator and keeps a check on it.

Question

Splash, what is a rhizotomy procedure? My sister lives in mass and has RSD and seems to be getting worse, never heard of this procedure.

thanks

I use my ortho, a pain management doc, and a neuro. And of course, it is important to let them know about each other and have only one or poss two drs prescribing meds. When there are probs, I usually start out with my ortho--he is really aggresive! Sometimes I think the pain doc would be too quick to send me out without any positive changes without the suggestions brought from the ortho! Not that I'm seeing alot of positive just now....about ready to consider the internal tens surgery....
