I have RSD in my right leg. Originally, it was simply my knee that was problematic...painful to the touch, discoloration, burning/numbness. It took approximately a year to diagnose it and by the time that happened, it had begun to affect my entire leg. The numbing is "normal" with RSD...although it might be a sign that it's spreading...but it could also be a symptom related to the "original" rsd. Actually, it is my understanding that one of the biggest complaints with RSD is the burning/numbness. However, that alone does not necessarily indicate that your RSD has spread. Do your toes tend to feel very hot or very cold?, do they swell?, is there a change in color?. All of these may or may not be present with RSD. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor about your concerns. Just always remember...it's not all in your head and if it's bothering you, then you really need to discuss it with your doctor. If nothing else, he or she can alleviate your fears. I sure hope this helps!
