I was diagnosed with RSD about a year ago and received stellate blocks with very good results, no more burning or shooting pains. I had a cable graft and the burning, shooting pains, swelling, and temp changes returned. Now the new doc is not sure this is RSD because it is directly related to the radial nerve path in the hand. My questions are how fast does this spread? Has anyone ever not had it spread? Do you at times have little or no pain to have it return?

RSD spreads in 70+% of those who have it. RSD affects each person differently. Check out this website [url="http://www.********"]www.********[/url]
I currently am under the care of a Pain Management Center. My doctor is a Neurologist and I have been going there for a year now.

Hi Lefty,

Well RSD can be caused by surgery so it's not supprising that the RSD rekindled once again. RSD is weird stuff and remember that there is no specialist in RSD only guess work.

RSD can spread. When it spreads to the opposite side of the body it's called mirroring.

Keep in mind anything invasive could help RSD to spread. I know of doctors who are afraid to do anything invasive so much as to avoid hospital IV's. I've also heard of cases where RSD was caused by nurses who had a hard time starting an IV. Simple sprains could cause RSD.
