Hello

I read that you had a sympatectmy in 1991? HOw did they do it, i mean what kind of incision they made and the hospital stay ad the recoup time of it? I am soo scared that this is my next step and with all the stuff i read on the net about it im not sure that i want it and that i can handle the pain for the rest of my life. I am only 25 also and they told me that haveing this sypmatectomy that it might make me sterile. I alreadyhave endometroisis that mkes its hard to get prego but if i have this surg i will almost be garunteed that i will not be able to have kids??

Hi Bryn,

The incision for my sympathectomy is on the left side of my abdomen. It is about 6 inches and goes across from my belly button to my side. I was in the hospital for two nights. My doctors told me that they thought it would work because I had nothing else mechanically wrong with my knee that would keep the RSD going. This is what they thought back then, anyway. Needless to say, it didn't work.

I didn't know they were doing them anymore for RSD. I have not read one case where in was done for RSD where it worked. If I think of any more specifics, I'll let you know.

Sharon1030, just wanted to say hello and welcome. You sure have been through h#*& but you sound very couragageous (sp). I'm glad you decided to join the board because you have probably been through everything! When I was diagnosed last year I had never heard of RSD. I can't imagine your reaction 17 years ago. Hope to chat with you soon.

Hi Soxy!

Thanks for the welcome. I had never heard of RSD either when I was diagnosed. I had it for about 3 years before it was diagnosed. At the time, I thought it could be fixed.You never know, maybe they'll find a cure.

About a week ago or so, you guys were talking about the book, Living With RSD. I'm reading it now and I think it's pretty good. Throughout the book, there are stories of what other people have been through since being diagnosed. I think it's interesting. I'll talk to you all soon.
