Post having a really bad day

Hi guys. Just having a really bad day today and needed to vent. Got the results of my QSART (sweat test) back and it was definitive for CRPS. I was already diagnosed with RSD a few months ago based on symptoms, and some other tests, but this time here it was - in black and white. Felt like a death sentence. I mean, I already knew I had it, but this just killed me. I'm so depressed. I just feel so useless. Someone said to me the other day, "well it seems like you're handling it well." I wanted to scream: "No I'm NOT handling this well! This absolutely sucks! I'm 32 years old and all I have to look foward to is a lifetime of pain ocassionally interrupted by injections to control the pain!"
Ok. Enough venting. Thanks for listening guys.

Hi Leftykid! Sorry to read that you are so upset. I know it is tough to hear the diagnosis. There is hope. You are young and strong. There are treatments that can control the pain. I've forgotten (forgive me) where your RSD is. What is the "sweat test"? Anyway, there is always the possibility of remission or a lessoning of symptoms. You need to surround yourself with supportive docs, and friends. It's tough because the pain of RSD is not like any other. If my puppy accidently steps on my foot I see stars! It's like a 10 ton boulder landed on it. The amount of pain is not proportionate (sp?) to the source, as you know, so it is difficult for others to understand. We are here for you. Hang in there. You matter.

Hey Lefty, glad to meet cha!! I know when my doc told me I just sat down and cried!! He was not exactly symphathetic either!! Now I just think what a loser!! (him not me!!) I know it's tough and I don't think I've fully realized what's happening to me yet. I think I still must be in denial. I'm trying to work full time and I get soooo tired, plus you can tell from my previous notes, I'm stressed to the max both at home and at work ..... Not good for rsd'ers. I'm hoping to make it 18 months to retirement and see if it effects the rsd. Hopefully it will reduce the symptoms. Maybe we can comfort each other and together two bad days might make one good one!!! Hang in there and if you need a shoulder to cry on you're welcome to use mine!!!

Hey there,

I know where you are comming from too. I am only 25 and have RSD in my rt foot and leg nad now in my back. I got this due to a foot surg that the doc did in 9 yes 9 mins. Its been 10 mos since the diagnosis of RSD and i too think it really hasnt hit me yet. I mean i have been through soo many treatments just to try and geet some pain releif and i know have a spinal cord stim and that only works a little bit.

We are all here for you no matter what. This board has been my strength and support for the past couple mos.

I havent been to work in 10 mos either and i am a RN and not doing nothing all day is driving me NUTS. I have always been a busy body and on my feet and now i cant. They arent even sure that i will be able to go back to nursing at all! so that hits home but , like you said i dont think it has fully hit me yet.! So keep your head up.. come here and vent to us!! its not good for RSD'ers to be under stress bc it makes the RSD worse!!

Hope your are doing better.. Let us know!

Bryn

9 minutes??? gee girl what kind of surgery did you have??? I can't even get undressed in less than that LOL..... One question: if a doc performs surgery and you get rsd can you sue? Uhhhh, guess not, cause you have to sign release papers right? Seems like there should be some sort of recourse don't you think? I mean you have to suffer the rest of your life so I feel you should get SOME COMPENSATION SOMEWHERE OUT OF THIS..... I have a morton's neuroma on the right foot and a HUGE bunion on my left by the big toe. In fact, my toes curve inward. Wen I had my three phase bone scan done they said, "are you sure it's the right foot?" and I said "yep, crushed the right foot" and they said, "well you sure got one helluva bunion on the left foot. you need surgery." boy am I glad that I said no to both!! Now with RSD I'll just gemp around cause I ain't having no surgery!!! I bought my Memphisto shoes and I'll just wear them thank you very much. Now if I can just get rid of the people in my office, mmmmmmm......and loose 185 pounds but I can't afford the divorce.......
