Hi Everyone,

I'm still posting for my Husband "Ramrod Joe" who has RSD in his Left foot/leg after Morton's Neuroma surgery. He just had his first Lumbar Sympathetic Block but it didn't help after the first few hours....he's scheduled for the next one 7/15.

In the meantime, we're going on Vacation on Saturday for a week of hopefully relaxing at the family cottage...he'll get to fish and relax. We will be taking a two night side trip to bring our little girls to an amusement park in the mountains (probably just me, really!) Anyway, I scheduled Joey for a Full Body Massage at a cool looking massage place near our motel...then I was so envious I scheduled myself for one too! Joey's never had a massage, and he's not real thrilled that I'm 'forcing' this onto him, he's concerned about finances, but I'm telling him he absolutely needs the luxury of the massage to relax all of his muscles....I told him it's his choice whether to have them touch his leg at all.

Has anyone else benefitted from Massage? Any Advice?

I haven't had a massage since having RSD, but years ago I would get them monthly. They are soooo beneficial and healing. When you are in pain your whole body tightens up - and you don't even realize it. I wouldn't even consider this a "luxury" if I were you, but a therapy. I'm sure Joe will thank you once it is over - he probably is just thinking it is a bit invasive having a stranger touch you. Enjoy! - Shelley

Ange, I would definitely urge him to go. When I go to PT if I'm in bad shape with my foot, sometimes my therapist takes pity on me and works on my back. It gets out of whack because of how I walk. Anyway, she gives me a good massage of the whole back area - nothing too deep or rough and it is so relaxing. If Joey has RSD in his foot I'm assuming his walking gait is off a bit so his back muscles may be tight. This might just be the thing for him. I would strongly encourage him to go for it. I would just tell the massuese (sp) not to go too hard because you don't want the nerves to flare up or as my phys therapist says "get angry". You might want to o'k it with his docs, too.

Thanks Everyone! I'm sure Joey's going to LOVE his massage so much he's gonna start wanting them more often! lol....

We won't be around the Board for a while so in the meantime I hope you ALL can get relief for your pain too!
