Soxy, have you tried lidoderm patches at all? They help the itchy, burning, pain, redness and sensitivity.
The wraps my therapist gives me is like what a Dr would put on your arm or leg before the plaster for a cast. It's thin, but fits snugly on my arm. She cuts a small slit for my thumb, and long enough for my whole arm. It helps with the swelling, keeps the wind/drafts off of it, doestn't help for the redness at all.
