i have rsd in my left hand, i was hurt at work in 2000, put a knife thru my hand, workmans comp. is involed which they have ok'ed everything, i was wondering can i get a % from ss for this it gets worse every day ty

My injury/rsd is a w/c injury, and won't be able to go back to work until I am better. I just applied for SS, once approved I will get both my bi-weekly checks from w/c and SS (at least that is my understanding) I(I sure hope that is how it goes)

Anyone knows anything diff, please speak up.

Social Security and Workers Comp are totally seperate and if eligable you could receive both. Most people have difficulty getting the SS approved. I have RSD in my dominant hand and when I applied for SS the lady helping me had to fill out the form because I could not write. I was denied because there could be some type of work somewhere that I could perform. Good Luck! - Shelley

ty for ur input, greatly appreciated, one ? tho,you mean i can recieve temp/total from w/c for rsd? see, my attorney is not telling me everything, but someone else said u have to be 25% or more disabled before u can get ss i am at 17% but i am going to fill out papers anyway ty again! shelley

I had a functional capacity evaluation done to see where I am at with whwt I can and can't do.

I am able to work but only sedendary work. I will never be able to do nursing again.

I am not elegible for ssi because I can work. So I continue to get comp. I will either go back to school or I will most likely end up going to vocational rehab to retrain in a whole different field which is just lovely. The whole situation is just a bunch of sh--!
