Celebrex or Viox for pain????????? - Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Message Board

Is any one here on viox or celebrex? I was on the viox before and it did nothing for my pain.

I am now on celebrex and personally I also think it is s***!!!!!!

My pain dr. swears by celebrex and thinks it should help my pain but it dosn't help my RSD pain at all.

I was just wondering if any one else has been perscribed these meds for there RSD and if they work for you.

here's my opinion of vioxx. my mom was taking it for arthritis. she was also taking vitamins. one day she felt like she was having a stroke so off to the hospital. they told her her potassium levels were dangerously high and slapped her in the hospital. after many tests they concluded it was the combination of vioxx plus the vitamins. bottom line -- she almost died because the vioxx apparently has a lot of potassium in it plus the vitamins she was taking. so please always do your homework on thesse drugs. doctors really don't research this. it's like the tylenol commercials where they say so many patients in the hospitas take it. well that's because they give free samples to the doctors, that's why!!!

Hi,

I've been on both in the past. I decided that the chance of stomach problems outweighed the pain relief.

They did nothing for my pain. I got more relief from a nice big peice of cheesecake.

Hi cattys,

I take Vioxx and I can't say it does anything for the RSD pain, but it does help other joint pains that I have. If you're just taking it for the RSD, I can't say it does a blessed thing for me! Bye.

Hi Catttys!

Joey was on Vioxx for like a week, but I think it was when he had the Morton's Neuroma, before the surgery that triggered the RSD....at that time they kept trying to give him Anti-Inflammatories and they never did a thing for him except make him horribly sick....the Vioxx didn't make him as sick, but it still didn't do anything for his pain then. It's mainly meant for Arthritis, which he didn't have.

I wouldn't think it would do anything for RSD either.
