Question Medication

I was wondering if you all could tell me what you are taking right now? Or have taken and NOT to take

Cool

Hi Percussionist...

My husband Joey is currently on Demerol, which is the only thing that really touches his pain....he takes Percocets along with it, Valium, Neurontin for the nerves which stopped his agonizing spasms in the middle of the night...and he's supposed to be on Elavil but he hates the side effects, as I've read here that alot of people do. You need to be on an Anti-Depressant not only for your emotional health, but also because they somehow attach themselves to the nerve endings and help the other meds to work better.

Basically, you need to keep trying different meds until you find the combination that works for you!

Joey's also getting the Spinal Blocks done, currently once per month, but we're switching hospitals to hopefully get him on a more aggressive treatment plan.

Hope this helps,
~Ange

hey perc. i'm taking neurontin, lorcet, duragesic patches when the pain is real bad, klonopin, xaxax, wellbutrin, trazadone, concerta, but i hope to swith to straterra come monday (for ADD), and i think that's about it for now.

ange is right, you need to find the right combo for you, and it takes trial and error and time to get it right. you'll have side effects from some of the meds, but alot of them go away after a bit, so don't give up on a med too soon, unless it's affecting your blood pressure or something of the like, call your doc and tell him immediately. many of the meds need to be weaned off from, you can't just abruptly stop taking them, and you'll need to know which ones these are. discuss everything with your doc, side effects, symptoms, everything, and ya'll will find the right combo and treatments for you. ask questions too. communication is so very important between you and your doc. remember though, it's ultimitely up to you to decide the course of treatment that you want to try for you, so ask your doc what you options are and go from there.

best wishes to you, please keep us posted.
cathy

Ooo... I forgot lidoderm patches too

Hi perc! I take 100mg of Topomax which helps the zaps. I may have to increase that because the last few days I've been feeling the zaps again. I take VicodinES 2 - 3 times a day as needed for pain. That's it for the RSD. Oh, I also take a beta blocker Atenenol 50mg a day. Like the others said it's trial and error. I was on Neurontin. The Vicodin takes the edge off of the pain. I tried the Ultram for pain and it did nothing.
