Anyone using Topamax? - Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Message Board

G'day One and all,

I was on Neurontin until a few weeks ago but needed to come off it as I couldn't afford to keep it going! At a dose of 1200mg per day it was costing me around the $100AUD a week mark; expensive down here! I spent the better part of this week in hospital after a dreadful reaction to Tegretol put me in a major pain flare.

My doctor has now commenced me on Topamax. I have already experienced palpitations from it but he assures me that will settle with time. Is anyone using Topamax for nerve pain? IF so are you have good results?

Hi Curlsgirl! Boy, you had a tough week. I take 100mg of topomax. It has helped with the zaps of pain. However, I have noticed in the last few days a few of the zaps have returned. It may be due to the fact that I have overused my foot and it's angry. The only side effect that I noticed is from time to time I get a slight tingling in my fingers. Nothing major to make me stop taking it. Hope this helps. Hope your pain level is better.

Hiya Curlsgirl,

Topiramate is one of the meds that I was hoping to go onto.. I believe Tqueen who posts here is also using it. The reason I wish to try this in place of the neurontin is because of the normal weight gain associated with the neurontin.
