I second that. I know you had an appointment with the new PM guy recently. Hope it went well. Hope to talk to you soon.

Hi Everyone....

Sorry we seemed to have fallen off the Board......it's been so frustrating what we've been going through!

Joey WAS scheduled to go to the New Hospital's Pain Center last week, after like 2 months of waiting for the appointment...he called to confirm it on the Friday before Labor Day weekend, and then they called back and cancelled it a half hour later when he wasn't home anymore....he was practically in tears when he called me to tell me they cancelled it! When that Tuesday finally rolled around, I called them first thing and complained LOUDLY to the bulldog secretary....I practically SCREAMED at her that my husband was in EXCRUCIATING PAIN, and how DARE they cancel AFTER it was CONFIRMED?? Then she says, "Hmm...he had an appointment in June that he didn't show up for...what happened there?" and I was like "His Dr. referred him somewhere else, and that was supposed to be cancelled! So are you saying this is our PUNISHMENT for an uncancelled appointment?????" which she of course denied. I DEMANDED that he been seen ASAP because he's supposed to start WEEKLY blocks and it's already been 2 months since the last one! The ***** insisted her first opening wasn't for THREE WEEKS!!! I was SO MAD...I said I wanted him put on a Cancellation List...and she said they don't have one, but we could try calling back in a few days.....OOOOOH, I HATE HER!!!

Then we've had so much else going on, we haven't called back....just waiting for that 9/22 appt...only 2 more weeks, plus he's been referred to a new Pain Management Dr, and that's coming up...(forget when) but the crazy thing is that the damn Pain Center for our HMO is only open like one day a week! What kind of Pain Center is that? When you're in Pain and need meds you have to wait till Friday? So Joey was getting so frustrated he kept calling his original Ortho who did the original surgery and is the only one really following him on this journey...and he's sending him to another Ortho because he got scared when he saw Joey's foot last week, still all swolen and red/blue...he took another Xray that showed nothing. I'm losing track of all these appts....sorry I don't have my calendar with me..but that's coming up soon too....

Joey just went back to work today after 3 wks off for his Broken Elbow which he did bouncing off the walls when he was on the Morphine, which he threw away and went back to Demerol...but since that Pain Dr wouldn't give him the Percocets to take WITH the Demerol, which is what worked for him, he ended up taking like 2-3 Demerol at a time and it just wasn't working for him like it did when mixed with the Percocets...plus with the pain of his broken elbow and being home from work...he ended up going through the prescription too fast....and couldn't get more meds out of anyone till he talked to his Ortho, who gave him Percocets.

So he went back to work today, and started getting the 'dizzies' again, which the last pain Dr said was from the Elavil....so he wants to get off the Elavil!

In the meantime, we bought a new (used) car, and have been going crazy trying to scrape up the $ for it, thank goodness we got some personal loans...that's been another whole headache...getting my Insurance Co to get me the check for our totalled car.....Aaaarrrgghh!

So it's been a stressfull few weeks for us.....but we're back now!

Thanks for caring! You guys are the best!

~Ange

Hi Ange,

Wow! You guys have been through a lot. That stinks that they canceled your appointment. I hate when they do that. I've had that done so much to me and they don't get what a big deal it is to the patient. I hope your new appointment comes fast and you get some help.

Sharon
