Question Does your diet effect your RSD symptoms?

I have noticed in various threads on this healthboard that for alot of people, what they eat directly effects their RSD symptoms.

I have had RSD for 10 years in my left foot and left thigh(thankfully it has never spread any farther) and have never found what I eat effects the RSD in any way.

I am effected by other things, just not diet.

However, I have found when I take my vitamins on a regular basis, it seems like my pain isn't as severe and the flare ups don't last as long.

I would like to hear what others have to say on diet/supplements and RSD symptoms.

Thanks again all you wonderful people who take the time to share your experiences.

peace

terry

Hi Terry,

I also have not noticed any link between my diet and the RSD. I have to add that I don't think about the RSD much so I could be missing a lot of links. I also noticed that the longer I have a disease, the more I "ignore" it. So, when I read posts from people who are new to it and they notice a relation between the disease and something else, it makes me start to wonder. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Bottom line...I have not noticed any link between my diet and pain.

Sharon

Hi Terry
I've been wondering the same thing about the diet that people have been mentioning. I don't see any difference with the items they mention. Honestly, I have a really poor diet. I don't know if it isdepression, fighting pain, meds, stress or whatever but I hardly eat at all. I know that my pain level is bad on days I forget to eat until 3:00pm and I do notice that lack of protein in my diet makes it bad.

When I was taking vitamins and herbs suggested by a healer I did feel better. I had also increased my water intake from 0-8 glasses a day so I don't know which of those factors was the benefitter.

Funny thing, before I went to the healer, I craved black licorice, which I have hated all my life. The first thing she put me on was licorice root. Supposed to aid in healing the protective sheath around nerve endings or something like that.

How about stretching or strengthening? Do you od anything in that area?

Hope you had a good day and are having a better night.
Just for today..........
Cathy

I discovered the hard way about chocolate. One day I ate two Hershey bars (yep 2!) and that night I was scrambling for meds. Ultram didn't work so I was up all night.

Sooo, no chocolate for me. I drink caffeine free coke but otherwise eat pretty much what I want (which may explain part of the weight loss). Neurotin and elavil together just make you crave sweets and food. Not good for a person like me who has no control in the first place.

I don't feel any different effects from the food I eat, But, I think the RSD makes me eat when I should not.
I get up a couple of times during the night from pain and walk off cramps, and sit down at the table with a jar of peanut butter and a jar of strawberry preserves. It doesn't help the pain but I feel a little better. This is bad and I know it.
I think my bathroom scale is off about 10 pounds.

Love to All.
