Unhappy NEIGHBORHOOD LAB SPECIMAN HERE!

I don't know whether to laugh of cry!!

Yesterday was day one: I went to see an orthopedic doctor for evaluation for SSI. I was having a really bad day both mentally and physically. They ask you to be there 30 minutes early and then leave you sitting for an hour. My husband was furious. THen they made me walk around to XRAY of my left shoulder. Now, come on gang what is an XRAY gonna show for SRDS??? So, I waited...did that.. and then ...had to walk out of that office, take the elevator to another floor to see the doctor. The nurse took my blood pressure 197/107...I freaked...I never ever have had high blood pressure...BUT then I remembered my pshychiatrist treating me for depression put me on NEW medicene 10 days before and she said it could raise your blood pressure. THEN the doctor walks in and folks I am not being ugly but he was at least in his 80's and did not have a clue about what was going on. I HAD TO EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT SRDS WAS!!! He was very nice and very concerned but come on this is who is gonna evaluate me for SSI?

So, I go home and call the pshychiatrist and needless to say didnt take the medicene.

DAY2
TOday started out with a visit to a Psychologist for evaluation for SSI. I walk in ...he takes me to the back..again very nice and pleasant but same thing NOT a clue.... he asked me questions off of a form to be filled out that I know he is required to do but again had NO CLUE whatsoever about waht was going on with me.
I had made a list of all my medications but that was good enough. He gave my medicenes to his secretary to write down everything including counting how many was in the bottles!! That made me feel really good her fooling around with my medications...Of course I didnt know she would do that or I would have stopped it. I asked why..and I was told that it was to make sure I was currently taking the medicene and in the proper manner. WELL, Guess what!!! I have small bottles of medicen that I have made into a carry bag to fit my purse and just fill them will pills as I need them for when I am away from home instead of carrying the huge bottles of medicenes. HOW long do you think it took me to make him UNDERSTAND THAT? I made him make a note on the paper that those were not my up to date prescription bottles and etc, etc that I just explained. NOw maybe I was the stupid one...I was just so shocked. ALSO how many of you know who wrote Faust? I did at one time but I couldnt tell him....I also couldnt answere geography questions that I couldnt answer when I was in school LOL

NEXT this afternoon I went to see my neurologist...I really like this guy and gives me the options and basically lets me decide what we gonna try next...just didnt like the news he gave me whcih I already knew..that I would not gain the function of my left hand back...but also that we are running out of options as for as treatment options.

Day 3 is tomorrow because now I have to start with a NEW internist because his medical group decided to leave my insurance GRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I get to try to explain everything that has happend in the past 2 years!! I jsut hope he has a clue of what SRDS is and treatment of that syndrome. AND he gets to determine if my hight blood pressure is caused by this new medicene or because I have other problems...I bet he is gonna love me!!

THANK YOU LORD for my husband!!! I would now be totally insane without him.

Take care and thanks for listening,

Brighteyes

Hi Brighteyes,

Sorry you had such a bad couple of days. Hope tomorrow is better. First of all, why are they asking you questions about geography and Faust? I don't get that one at all. I had one of these for SS last October and same thing...had to wait for an hour or more and then the "person" (don't know what she was) takes my blood pressure and says, "Boy, it's high." And I say, "Wonder why that is" with sarcasm in my voice and she looks at me and says, "I don't know." So, I told her that I knew why. It was because I waited for over an hour and I'm in major pain and my hip hurts when I sit for more than ten minutes. Those people are so obnoxious. I've always said that there's a reason that these "docs" are working for the government and don't have their own practices. You know? They're not your "top-of-the-line" docs. I really hope tomorrow is better for you.

Sharon

Thank you for responding and have no idea WHY such stupid questions were asked.

I am sorry you were turned down for SSI.

I found out today that SSI takes these doctors forms and sends them to another SSI doctor and then HE/SHE that has never seen me actually makes the decision. ONly in America right? LOL
