Edna,
i know you said you are from the UK and that you had a frozen shoulder and that you are a nurse. My question is: have you ever heard of the Neil-Asher treatment there in London? Will you let me know anything you know or have heard about it? Maybe I will come there for treatment if it is better than having a manipulation under anaesthetic. Thanks, Cheryl

Hello Cheryl
I will do my best to answer your question. Firstly It is my son David who has a frozen shoulder from inactivity due to the RSD. I had an impingement which is a little different in that the AC bone was bent down and I had arthroscopic surgery and a piece of bone removed. David is awaiting the result of an MRI scan to determine the severity of his frozen shoulder. However he has been warned that any intervention is likely to cause a flare up in the RSD.
On balance, I doubt he will have any intervention, but may accept physio. In my case, nothing less than surgery would have sufficed.
Yes, I have heard of the person you mentioned. He works out of a Performing Arts Clinic in London. It is mostly musicians who attend there, with all aspects of their difficulties in performing. The person you mention deals with osteopathy. I could give them a ring if you like and find out exactly the treatment he gives. I, too have been banned for giving out info, so I am having to be very careful not to transgress again!!

I would love it if you could find anything out about this place in London. What would be nice, would be finding something like that in the USA. Also, tell David that I was told that if they put a nerve block in the neck before they do anything for the shoulder it would keep the nerve impulses from reaching the spinal column and thus the chance of the RSD spreading. My MRI caused me terrible pain, they said it was from the positioning of my neck and not the RSD. Thanks for responding so quickly. You are both in my prayers. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl.....I have not had any success in contacting the clinic. I rang three times, and it sounds like the line is dead. I will keep trying though. The clinic is a registered charity, and I did see that they held conferences in North America. I did wonder if it was only available to musicians, but the person in question may also do work privately.
David has the results of his scan a week Monday, but I doubt he will accept anything other than physio. His RSD has already spread , so a block would be of little use to him in the circumstances.
