Post Update -- Now entire leg

Well gang, the entire right leg has now started burning, very slight but it's there. I noticed it a couple of days but was hoping I was wrong. I've been getting about 2-5 hours of sleep a nite and with working fulltime that's not cutting it.

I broke down and called Dr. Enty's office and said let's go with the mri on my hip. After I work all day it hurts really bad and the spasms in it are pretty strong. This has been going on since that incident in September and I was thinking the old body would heal itself. NOT..... I also told them I was running out of neurotin and that I thought I should go back on the elavil although I hate to. At least I got some sleep and now with this pain starting again, I think it will help in conjunction with the neurotin. I wish Dr. Enty would prescribe more than a 30 day supply. His office visit is pretty expensive for me and going every 30 days just to get a prescription filled doesn't make sense to me.

I wanted to ask since my incident happened 9 months ago, where all of you were at 9 months? I think I'm pretty much still in stage 1 - no real discoloration lately, no swelling to speak of, no shiny, just that awful like sunburn feeling. Got diahhrea constantly tho.

Hi Dayton....so sorry to read about the latest development. It must make you feel very despondant and scared. Not to have sleep too when you have to work makes things even worse. I hope you can get the meds sorted out, in order to get some relief.
Ax you know David has the pain of RSD in all four limbs, but the worst of the pain is confined to his feet. He went up two sizes in shoes, although he does not have the shiny skin he did on his right hand which was the site of the fracture. However, he has the burning pain in them even although they are icy cold to touch. Personally , and in the latest documention, it seems that the notion of "stages" has now been dropped and according to the latest International Study it says that whenever RSD is present then there are changes in the central nervous system. This makes the syndrome variable from individual to individual, and the symptoms variable also. Physio, along with meds I think is important. Are you having physio? I guess time(from your job) and money might make that difficult. It is all so frustrating, and certainly has an effect on exacerbating pain levels.
I hope you have a good doctor that you can talk this through with. Best of luck.

Hugs,
Edna xx

Hi Dayton, I know I'm a pessimist, so it's no wonder I think in terms of your return trips just for a prescription refill is because it's profitable - for HIM. It's not like it's a narcotic that should be monitored. Ask him why. If he won't give a reasonable answer, you have cause to be suspicious.
