Hi Everyone!
Well, Joey had his second appt with his new Psych Dr. today, who's never had an RSD patient but is eager to learn all about it from me (I am now the OFFICIAL RSD SPOKESWOMAN OF THE WORLD!! lol....)
Anyway, she was glad to hear we have changed around Joey's medicines, lowered his Neurontin to 600mg/day, gotten him (pretty much) off of Valium and Dilaudid, added the Percocet 10/325, and added the new Vitamins she advised last week (B-Complex and Calcium 1500 mg)
She wants to keep on the (3) Prozacs right now, and add Wellbutrin/Zyban (same thing marketed differently!) to the mix...she thought it would be good for him because it's often used for Quitting Smoking, which she is heavily stressing he should (FINALLY a Dr. who is! He ignores me about that!

), but also because it was an Antidepressant first, and should help to lift his mood and give him more energy (which he needs!), and should also hopefully stimulate his appetite, which he desperately needs because he's wasting away at an alarming rate!
I asked about Zoloft, and she says it has more of a sedating effect, and that we may change to that next time if the combination with the Prozac is getting him too revved up, but she only wants to change one thing at a time for now.
I'm a little nervous because I kept stressing to her how high his anxiety is right now, that he's gotten dependant on the Valium because he's always so stressed and especially now since he's out of work and financial monsters loom in front of us....but she wants us to try this for two weeks, then we go again to see her.
I did practically ALL the talking today because Joey was a bit Zombie'd, I wonder if it was because he'd taken one of his Neurontin pills an hour or so earlier...do you think it works that fast? Should I maybe give him his whole 600mg dose at bedtime instead of spacing it out? He gets this wild look in his eyes like his eyes are being pinned open with toothpicks! Of course it could be so many other things....maybe his Duragesic patches?
Anyway, she's very happy to hear that I'm connected to this Online Support Group, she's very impressed and is thrilled that I learn so much about his disease from you all! She said she wished more people had advocates like me, since I could do all the talking for him clearly and inform her so much....I'm glad she didn't just leave me out in the waiting room!
Anyway, the main point of this whole thing was to see what other's experiences with Wellbutrin/Zyban have been?
Thanks everyone, you're the BEST!
