| Walking With A Popliteal Nerve Block
Next week I will be having my first popliteal intertendinous block nerve block on my right leg. My pain management doctor does it all in his doctors office and it only takes a few minutes which I've heard is safer than other ones that are done in a surgical area. I've also been told that I'll still be able to walk normally after it. My job requires me to be very active and I don't want to jeopardize my job due to not being able to walk as I am now. He even said that I could work that same day. He said that since I'm getting it done in my right leg that I should get a ride home until the inital numbing wears off in a few hours but that I'd be able to drive again. He said typically these blocks last about three months but sometimes patients only need one.
I find this hard to believe... perhaps its because everything that I've read on the internet say that these nerve blocks only work for a short period of time following foot or leg surgery. I'm hoping for some reassurance from you experts... were you able to walk like you were prior to the block?
