I was diagnosed in May 2011 with RSd in both feet. I have done several blocks, scs trial (chose not to implant for several reasons), meds, and just did 5 day ketamine. Yes, the ketamine has helped, still have some issues but not like when I started, the question will be how long will it last and where to go from there. I had to go out of state for it.
So, my local Pm wanted to just go back and cross every t and dot every i. He sent me to a podiatrist who agreed with the diagnosis but just wanted to have HIS partner who specializes in neves from the knee down to look at me. Well, HE believes I don't have RSD but actually nerve entrapment in both feet and an underlying metabolic condition no one else has found. He thinks I should have nerve release surgery which I guess he pioneered some less invasive surgery?
Has anyone has issues like this? I've had many dr's agree with the RSD diagnosis and now this guy says this? I need to get in with my local pm and see what he thinks of it all. I do know that after the ketamine I can actually rest my feet on the bed and the burning and pain are almost totally gone. I am still sensitive to cold (one of my triggers) but once I am back to a warm area the pain/coldness go quickly.
any surgery on an RSD sufferer carries a high risk of causing perment spread so I would be very wary. Trapped nerves do have similar sypmtoms to RSD but to trap 2 in different feet at exactly the same time, I think you would have more chance of becoming President and Pope on the same day.
Where did you have the 5 day Ketamine Come done, it's supposed to be banned in the states.
I did 5 day outpatient, not coma.
I agree that surgery would not be a good idea. I am glad to hear that someone else thinks it would very rare to have the same trapped nerves on both feet. Sometimes I just get tired of doctors and appointments. Sigh
Ask for an EMC and NVG, trapped nerves will show up on them, but I would ask another doc somewhere else, frankly what that guy is saying to you stinks.
