What's the meaning of the "marks" under "ratings"?
I have been posting items for awhile, and I'm noticing that sometimes check marks appear under the "ratings" column and then something that looks sort of like a skewed pencil. What do these things mean? Did I miss something in the introduction that explained these? And then I see that most people's responses don't receive any marks at all.....Feedback, please.
Re: What's the meaning of the "marks" under "ratings"?
The ratings are for moderator use.
The symbols indicate if a post is a sticky (to remain at the top of the post list), to provide links for moderating, or to add tags to the post that will guide internet searches to the post, etc.

Okay, but I'm still wondering what a check mark means and the other symbol that sort of looks like a sideways pencil. Is that a secret only for moderators?!
Re: What's the meaning of the "marks" under "ratings"?
The "sideways pencil" is a pin. It means that the Moderator or the Administrator has "stuck" the post at the top of the board. This is not a user feature.
The "check mark" indicates that you are subscribed to that thread. This is a user feature that you control. Whenever there is a new reply on that thread then you will get an email notification. You can manage subscriptions in your user profile which we call "My Settings" and you can click on that in the blue bar above and to the left.

Okay. Thanks! I was thinking that these marks were evaluations of the quality of my responses. (Maybe it's the teacher in me.) So, if I got a check, for instance, that meant that you really liked my response!
I am trying to do a good job of helping folks, so I guess I was looking for some feedback....I have had people who have thanked me and agreed with me on things, so I can go with that....
By the way, you have an excellent forum. I give you folks a big checkmark for your site!
