By "set up", you mean introduce to your ex-friend to your girl friend? Does your good friend know about your history with this guy? If she doesn't, do you intend to tell her about it? If not and she finds out later down the road, what kind of effect do you think it will have on your friendship with her? If you were so casual about your close friendship with the ex-friend, how do you think she will react in the future everytime you cross paths with your ex-friend? The potential for a quickie will always be in the back of her mind with you two in close proximity.
There is nothing weird about it, just think through the potential after effects and the fall out from it.
