Question Falling in love..

My girlfriend & I were talking last night about online dating & she said she believes its possible to fall in love w/ someone you have been talking to online & *never* met...I dont know if I believe that myself but would like to hear other's opinions...

Im sure this has been discussed before so I apologize for starting the topic again lol

Re: Falling in love..

i think you can believe that your in love with them, and i think you can fall in love with your "perception" of that person, BUT it isn't real love. for love to be real you have to experience alot more than "chat" with the person... witness their greatest qualities and their worst... not just understand but WITNESS their greatest fears, and allow yourself to open up completely, something that isn't possible online

Re: Falling in love..

Well yeah I kind of agree w/ you on that Mada. However my girlfriend & I were were talking about this in depth and she started to go into the difficult situation she is in with someone she talks to from online. They talk every single day on the phone-like 5 different times & somtimes up to 3-4 hours at a time. They get along just great,in fact she says its actually scary because its like too good to be true. They have alot in common and also share the same beliefs in certain things. They both have stated to eachother how happy they are when they talk to one another & how they havent felt like that in a while..

Now for myself I am not sure if I believe falling in love with a "stranger" is possible,Ive told her my thoughts on it but it doesnt seem to be enough,so I decided to get other's opinions on it

Re: Falling in love..

I think you can fall in love with "falling in love' and with the "good vibes" etc. without really falling in love with the person--kind of like having a "crush" on someone you really don't know outside the small scope of whatever relationship you have--in other words you can be "attracted" to someone because of such and such, but you don't really know them well enough to be in love with them. If the attraction is strong enough it can lead to other things, but attraction is different than being in love...being in love takes time and study...
