annoying habits >:-/ - Relationship Health Message Board

This seems very trivial, but lately many of my boyfriend's habits are getting on my nerves to the point where I have to actually point them out at times.
An example is the way he says "ask" or "asked".... he says "aks" and "aksed", even though he has no accent whatsoever. I know there are many people who say it that way, but when he does it, it annoys me. I've brought it up jokingly, and he says he cannot say it the correct way because his family also says "aks" and he's been brought up saying that his whole life.

Have any of you been annoyed by a partners habits? If so, did you end up dealing with them just fine, or did it take some work??

Are you living with him? If not, might be time to devote a little more of your week to yourself and your life. If you are living with him, then it is difinitely time to devote more of your week to yourself, your needs and friends and family. I would bet that you've been in each others face too much lately.

I myself a foreigner with an accent and not a perfect English. My husband is an american. We are 8y together. I would imagine that may be there is something else which makes you unhappy not him pronouncing words wrong.

we both live with our parents, but we do spend a lot of time together- and another thing that's bad is that since he's met me, he's drifted away from his guy friends that he used to spend a lot more time with. I always tell him to call them up but he never seems interested. I think part of that is maturing and realizing that his high school days of partying with his 'crew' are over.

We come from 2 different worlds. He went to a public school that is known for having terrible education system (lack of intelligent teachers and etc) and I went to a private school that he had a choice to go to. He chose the public school because it seemed to appeal to him more....
I'm going back to school to get my master's degree in the fall and he's happy with his AA.
Even THAT annoys the hell out of me.

What I dont understand is that even when we only see each other once a week because of our busy work schedules, the aks thing still annoys me. And things like him thinking that a Mexican resturaunt would have bourbon chicken because both Chinese resturaunts and a resturant called "asian chow" have it. (he did not know chinese are asian)

Maybe I'm PMSing.
