im 18 years old and have never been on a date. i recently met this guy who i enjoyed the company of. i told him i liked him after hearing through the grape vine that he liked me. i told him in an email (probably not the classiest thing to do but that was the only way i knew how to get in contact with him). the thing is...he has never responded- and yes i know for a fact he has read it. so i am confused by that first of all. people have said that he is shy when it comes to girls, and others believe he is gay due to his lack of interest in getting to know the girls he says he likes. secondly...through a few mutual friends, we have set up a double date. a date was something i always wanted however, im afraid it will be awkward. i dont know his feelings about me and i dont know how to start things off. im really just nervous about the whole situation and wondering if i should even go. any advice you have on the situation would be so incredibly helpful. thanks!

It's a first date. You don't need him to be madly in love with you or you with him, at this point. Your job is to be good company and have a good time. If things click, and progress, good if not, move on. You have so much time, let things progress at their pace. You don't need, and can't have, all the answers now.
