how thick can someone be??

how can a man of high intelligence say he is happy and content in his marriage, profess to be a loving husband, yet when asked so why have you been having an affair for 15 months, say "i dont know".
can a person really be so out of touch with their feelings or reality to be able to believe they are happy and a loving husband but still continue an affair??
some people beggar belief lol

Re: how thick can someone be??

Yes, I think so. I once knew someone who was almost just as deluded and narcissistic. He may be a little bi polar. Some of the symptoms are lack of impulse control and the utter lack of ability to see how his actions affect others, he can only see how things feel to and affect him.

Obviously someone who is being unfaithful to his wife, breaking his marriage vows and lying every day to his wife's face is less than a good. loving husband. He's not thinking right.

I'm not sure what you can do about this situation. Since you are much closer friends with him than with his wife, it's not really your place to tell her, but I can understand your frustration and confusion. Maybe you can just be honest with him and tell him you think his affair is a horrible, dishonest, dishonorable, crappy thing for him to do and you'd appreciate it if he wouldn't talk about it or show any signs of it to you. Good luck.

Re: how thick can someone be??

Some people do things and they don't know why but often when a man is asked why he is having an affair the easy answer, because they don't want to get into it is to say "I don't know". Many will say "it just happened". Nothing "just happens". It's not like the person had amnesia when they started an affair. They may not be completely in touch with their feelings but when pressed for an answer they can usually come up with the reason.
"I don't know" is often more like "I don't want to discuss it".

Re: how thick can someone be??

He's happy and content because he gets to have a wife at home who takes care of his needs, and also gets to have a lover to have an exciting, illicit relationship with on the sly. He has what a lot of men would consider a dream situation...until he gets caught. Then you'll be hearing his sob stories about how his wife is divorcing him and taking him to the cleaners.

He's selfish. He doesn't care about anything but getting what he wants. It will all come crashing down on him and who's to say he doesn't deserve it?
