how can i go about avoiding conflict with her a little better
through the first part of the pregnancy?

Agree with everything!
Emotions and hormones are running WILD in the beginning..but it does get better I think...

Do your best to 'take the high road' whenever possible and step away from arguments, even when you think you're right. Tell yourself it's the right thing to do, pregnant women aren't difficult on purpose. She'll notice, and love you for it....your baby will benefit from it, and you will be admired by your friends and family as a supportive, capable father-to-be.

A woman can be very difficult while pregnant. Try to understand that and know that it will get better. It is pointless getting into arguments right now. There are hormonal and other changes that happen, so try to be understanding during your gf's pregnancy. Just be nice to her during this time.

What Negot - and the others - is saying is very important. A pregnant woman, especially in the first months, must avoid all kinds of stress. Stress can really affect the development of the baby. Be the gentleman of the gentlemen.
