| finally..now i need advice
hi all,
as this forum has provided me with great help and advice i'm back to get a lil more. My bf who is bi-polar has finally finally agreed to seek help. He is currenly unmedicated and is getting no form of counselling. He has always maintained that he doesn't need it but wow he does.
So after 4-5 days of fighting we've reached a point where i've again stated that he needs serious help. Our fight was based around a very unreasonable and selfish ultimatium on his part that i refused to give into until he said if you change your mind i'll get help, next week.
He put me in a very difficult position but in the end i put him first over my feelings and values and chose o change my mind simply so he wud benifit from seeking the help he needs.
So i have a few questions. He's mentiond how he will take the tablets that his doc has prescribed previously which was lithium. Quesstion 1) shouldn't this have been from a pdoc or can a regualr gp do this and 2) what exactly will the effect of lithium be. I know its a mood stabiliser but what can i expect...That is if he takes it and doesn't lie about it.
Next with regards counselling, should that be done again through a pdoc or a regular counselling. I've also suggested realtionship councelling as i feel he needs to recognise all this behaviour he does and doesn't recognise.. Everythign in our relationship is my fault. All of it but well, its not.
Thanks guys
