Post Would you give out your phone number?

This is a question for everyone, male and female.

How do you reject someone's invitation to go out with him/her? Suppose you've only known the person for a few weeks. My guess would be you'll tell the other person, "Let's just be friends." Would you also give out your phone number? And why would you do this?

Just curious.

If someone invited me out and I wasn't interested, I'd make up an excuse, not tell them ``let's just be friends." I'd save that statement until someone I wasn't interested in told me they were interested romantically. It's really tough to answer your question without more specific information - there's no context to go on whatsoever.

I know I was vague with my previous post.

Here's the deal:

Let's say you were a girl and a guy you met at work asked you out. Unfortunately, you aren't interested. He gives you his phone number in case you want to hang out. First question, would you even call him just to be polite?

Second, after a few weeks, you and him sat down together (outside of work) and tells you he likes you a lot. Now how would you handle that? Assuming you're going to say, "I like you as a friend..." Would you give your phone number voluntarily (maybe to be nice?)
What would a guy think of this (giving out your phone number after telling him you are not attracted to him).

I hope this would suffice for now.

Why lead him on if you are not interested. It seems to me that you would be giving him an awful lot of mixed signals.

The easiest way to get him to stop making advances is for you to stop indulging in what he wants to do. Don't call him. This will probably make him think you ARE interested. When he trys to make plans simply say you're busy. Make up excuses. Most of the time this will be enough. A guy at the point will typically lose interest. This way you can save face by not telling him straight out you're not interested.
